The aim of ham radio activities with special call signs and corresponding awards is to establish a connection between our hobby and the respective event. Our campaign 100FK https://100fk.de could be considered a successful example of this on the subject of history and ham radio. ( 1 , 2 , 3 , 4 )
The numerous positive responses were often accompanied by the desire to start a similar new campaign.
2025, with the theme “Chemnitz – European Capital of Culture”, provides a good reason to plan a new activity. The idea as well as the first activities to apply for Chemnitz to be the European Capital of Culture (CoC) in 2025 already existed in 2020/21.

Of course, the focus is again on radio operations with several special call signs and the offers for numerous attractive and free diplomas.
But history should also play a role in this campaign and the topic of “industrial history and amateur radio” should be mentioned. Who is aware that exactly 150 years ago the first electrical engineering company in Saxony was founded in Chemnitz?

The Ham Radio-Event 2025C
Supported by other ham radio amateurs from all over Germany, we want to draw global attention to the European Capital of Culture Chemnitz and the region with a radio event “2025C” and associated award program(s).
The 2025C ham radio event starts on January 18, 2025, at the same time as the official opening of the Capital of Culture year in Chemnitz.
The main activity is the Start-Event (short: Start) with five DL2025x-SES (see website teams) will take place from January 18 to March 31, 2025 with a demanding Award Program.
From April 1 to December 31, 2025, there will be a DL2025C Marathon (short: Marathon) exclusively with QSOs of the Chemnitz call sign DL2025C.
